Citizen Expert Panels (en, CS)

What are Citizen Expert Panels?

Citizen Expert Panels (CEPs) combine providing and gaining information to and from participants. At the beginning of a CEP biobanking experts provide basic information about biobanking and related issues. They are available to answer participants' questions. Afterwards participants discuss the topics and try to reduce the topics to a common denominator. Final outcome should be a consensur protocol.

Which topics are discussed in BBMRI.at Citizen Expert Panels?

Main topic of the citizen expert panels are biobanks. Biobanks are organized collections of biological human samples (tissue, blood, urine, aso.) and associated health and life-style information. The linking of biological samples and personal information raises various questions that are addressed in citizen expert panels.

Issues such as data protection and the question, if/how to deal with results, profits and risks arising from biobank-based research & development are examples of topics in citizen expert panels
