Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) for human and animal biomaterials
BBMRI.at in cooperation with experts from university and pharma and life science industry jointly worked out templates for ‘Standard Model Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs)’ for the transfer for human and veterinary biomaterials, respectively. These MTAs as well as templates for informed consents (ICs) are available for free download and use.
Exchanging knowledge and precious material such as biospecimens between universities and enterprises often requires complex contractual agreements. In order to facilitate and to speed up the technology transfer process and provide legal certainty, legal and technology transfer experts from BBMRI.at, the Austrian Medical Universities including the University of Veterinary Medicine, and experts from pharma and biotech industry jointly worked out ‘Standard Model Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs)’ for the transfer for human and veterinary biomaterials, respectively.
This was complemented by compiling standard clauses for Informed Consent (IC) agreements.
These model MTAs and ICs are available for free for researchers and technology transfer personnel in order to provide them practical assistance in preparing cooperative research projects between companies and public research organisations.
This activity of BBMRI.at was organised and supported by IPAG – „Intellectual Property Agreement Guide” – a project of the Austrian government and Universities Austria (österreichische Universitätenkonferenz, UNIKO), assisted by the National Contact Point for Intellectual Property (ncp.ip).
