Dr. Uwe Oelmueller receives European Committee for Standardization "S+I" Award

 

 

Dr. Uwe Oelmueller (QIAGEN), coordinator of the H2020 project SPIDIA4P in the context of which more than 20 CEN and ISO standards "Molecular In Vitro Diagnostic Examinations – Specifications for Pre-examination Processes" have been successfully developed, received the CEN-CENELEC award for his work on the standards.

 

Dr. Oelmueller is also convenor of the CEN Technical committee 140 WG3 "Quality management in the medical laboratory", which is responsible for the development of the pre-examination standard. The Standards-plus-Innovation (S+I) award was handed over February 17th at the CEN-CENELEC headquarters in Brussels.

 

BBMRI.at partner Med Uni Graz is member of WG3 and leads the development the new CEN Technical Specifications "Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations — Specifications for pre-examination processes for human specimen — Isolated microbiome DNA" and the ISO Standard "Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations — Specifications for pre-examination processes for FFPE tissue — In Situ Detection Techniques".

 

A series of further pre-examination standards (CEN Technical Specifications and ISO Standards) are currently under development in CENT/TC 140 WG3 such as those on Fine Needle Aspirates for examination of RNA, DNA or staining; blood for ccf RNA or urin and other bodie fluids for cfDNA examination.
