Approximately 100 international experts in digitalization and biobanking participated in this year’s EBW Roadshow about “Data integration and biobanking” with a focus on the extraction, integration, management and transfer of health and biobank data between biobanks and European platforms.

Three renowned keynote speakers gave insights on current developments in EHDS, AI and security: Anthony Brookes (University of Leicester, UK) talked about the further development of large European platforms for biospecimen discovery like the BBMRI negotiator. Priit Kleemann (EST) shared his expertise in the secure management of gene donor data in Estonia, while Carla Barbosa (Coimbra, PT) gave a lecture on the ethical and legal issues related to data, consent and AI in the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

The EBW IT Roadshow in Innsbruck was a successful event that enabled networking and knowledge transfer among the IT oriented biobank community, facilitating the development of further cooperations in quality-oriented sample management, joint creation of health data tools and other topics concerning the digitalization of biobanking.
