Recovered study at BBMRI.at partner Med Uni & Biobank Graz shows eight month antibodies against Sars-CoV-2 virus in blood

Strong formation of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and a stable antibody level for up to eight months. This has shown in a recovery study performed at the Med Uni Graz and the Biobank Graz.

The antibody levels of 326 study participants who experienced a COVID-19 disease with a “mild course” between February 2020 and January 2021 were evaluated. Focus was put on any changes in the antibody levels in blood over one year.

Major findings were that:

  • More antibodies were found in people with previous illnesses and
  • Noticeably many recovered participants showed long-lasting symptoms

Biobank Graz:

All samples from the “COVID-19 convalescent / convalescence cohort” and other cohorts are stored in the Biobank Graz for further research projects. The primary goal of Biobank Graz is to provide samples for biomedical research in order to better understand diseases in detail and thus contribute to improving health care for all of us.
