COVID-19 recovered study shows eight month antibodies in blood

            

Recovered study at BBMRI.at partner Med Uni & Biobank Graz shows eight month antibodies against Sars-CoV-2 virus in blood

                                                     

Strong formation of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and a stable antibody level for up to eight months. This has shown in a recovery study performed at the Med Uni Graz and the Biobank Graz.

 

The antibody levels of 326 study participants who experienced a COVID-19 disease with a "mild course" between February 2020 and January 2021 were evaluated. Focus was put on any changes in the antibody levels in blood over one year.

Major findings were that

  • more antibodies were found in people with previous illnesses and
  • Noticeably many recovered participants showed long-lasting symptoms

All samples from the "COVID-19 convalescent / convalescence cohort" and other cohorts are stored in the Biobank Graz for further research projects.
