BBMRI ‘Self-Assessment Survey’ supports BBMRI.at biobanks

Further BBMRI.at biobank collections receive CEN/TS quality mark by BBMRI-ERIC

BBMRI.at biobanks use the BBMRI ‘Self-Assessment Survey' tool to evaluate the CEN/TS compliance of the pre-examination processes of their collections. Now Biobank Graz and MedUniWien Biobank list in the BBMRI.at Catalogue further sample collections that meet the requirements of the CEN Technical Specifications for pre-examination processes (CEN/TS).

BBMRI.at biobanks are in the process of evaluating their existing sample collections by using the ‘Self-Assessment Survey'. They are among the first five biobanks within BBMRI-ERIC, which publicly declare the quality of their sample collections in the online BBMRI-ERIC Directory and provide potential users upfront a request with this information.

The ‘Self-Assessment Survey' is an online tool that BBMRI.at and BBMRI-ERIC QM Experts from various countries have jointly developed. It helps biobanks in one of the first steps of implementing the recently published CEN/TS for pre-analytical sample quality: Namely the evaluation if the sample collection, processing and storing processes meet the requirements of these international sample quality standards. It can be applied for both, existing and prospective collections.
