“Broad Consent”, not “Blanket Consent”
ChemieReport interview with BBMRI.at National Node Director Kurt Zatoukal.
In April, the Austrian National Council passed the “Data Protection Adaptation Act for Science and Research” to implement the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The law gives scientific institutions (including the research and development departments of pharmaceutical companies) legally enforceable access to certain stocks of personal data that are kept on the basis of federal laws. Last but not least, it facilitates so-called “register research”. The law also aims to increase legal certainty when working with biobanks.
