1st BBMRI.at-internal QM cross audit at Biobank Graz

On March 23, 2017, BBMRI.at partner biobanks performed their first intra-consortial cross audit, when representatives of MedUni Wien Biobank, Biobank Innsbruck, VetBioBank Vienna and the BBMRI.at coordination office paid a visit at Biobank Graz.

The audit scope involved chapters 7 and 8 of ISO 9001:2008, covering realization, control, prevention and improvement processes. Both auditors and auditees reported to have gained valuable experience from the visit, which is planned to be the first in a row of mutual quality management (QM) audits within the consortium.

The main goals of this internal audit program, which is a main deliverable of BBMRI.at’s work package 3 “Quality management” (work package leaders: O. Wagner, H. Haslacher) are at one hand to offer a subject-specific review of one’s own processes, and on the other hand to provide insight into well-functioning structures of audited biobanks for partners with more recently established QM systems.
