BBMRI.at at the ‘Long Night of Research’ 24 April 2026 – Experience biobanking in Graz and Linz

On 24 April, starting at 5 pm, a number of exciting research centres across the country will be opening their doors for the “Long Night of Research.” BBMRI.at will once again be taking part with a range of hands-on workshops and guided biobank tours in Graz and Linz, offering interactive workshops for visitors of all ages.

In Graz, the BBMRI.at coordination team together with the  Diagnostic and Research Institute of Pathology and the BBMRI.at partner Biobank Graz team will be represented with several interactive stations and tours through the biobank.. Visitors can explore what a biobank is, how biobanking works, and get a glimps into biobanking, pathology and research lab work.

 

– At the ZWT (Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer in Medicine), visitors can pipette blood and freeze tissue samples in liquid nitrogen.

– At the MED CAMPUS, they can stain tissue sections from different organs and examine them under the microscope.

 

In Linz, at BBMRI.at partner JKU Biobank Linz visitors with learn about the biobanking process and the benefits for research and patients, and can also watch the animated video “Professional Biobanks” produced by BBMRI.at/GBN/SBP.
