On samples, data, and their mobility in biobanking: How imagined travels help to relate samples and data
BBMRI.at experts from University of Vienna published their work on samples, data, and their mobility in biobanking in the renowned scientific journal “Big data & Society”. This work was done within BBMRI.at work package on Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI).
Biobanking is not only about collecting, processing, storing and providing samples for research but also involves the assembly, curation and distribution of data associated with biological samples. In several interviews with different types of stakeholders, the BBMRI.at researchers from University of Vienna investigated how samples and data are made mobile in hospital-based biobanks in Austria.
The authors want to show up this part of biobanking to which many different stakeholders contribute and a work that is often invisible to those outside.
