To mark the 10th anniversary of the Center of Knowledge and Technology Transfer (ZWT), a celebratory get-together recently took place with politicians, management, companions, and tenants including BBMRI.at.
BBMRI.at, Biobank Graz, and BBMRI-ERIC were among the first tenants moving into the ZWT in 2014. Ten years later, the ZWT’s premises are at full capacity and a second ZWT tract the ZWT ACCELERATOR was built to accommodate all interested tenants. Today a total of 25 start-ups , spin-offs, established research companies, Life Science cluster, Med Uni Graz institutes the European and the Austrian Biobanking research infrastructure headquarters and Biobank Graz are located at the ZWT and over 360 employees have found their workplace at the ZWT.
On the occasion of the 10th birthday the ZWT management invited to a celebration. In addition to the entire Rectorate of the Medical University and high-ranking guests from politics and business, Cornelia Stumptner (BBMRI.at Executive Manager) and Luka Brcic (BBMRI.at Coordinator) were also invited. Together they celebrated the last ten years and toasted to another successful ten years.
The ZWT with its close proximity to the Medical University of Graz underlines the central role of knowledge transfer for future-oriented research and application, as Andrea Kurz, Rector of Med Uni Graz emphasized. The ZWT is a lighthouse of networking between science and business and the researchers based there have done outstanding work, says the Styrian Minister of Economy, Tourism, Europe, Science and Research Barbara Eibinger-Miedl.
